TEHRAN – The second international festival of Prophet Muhammad (S) has been dedicated to the inscription of “salawat” (greetings to the Holy Prophet Mohammad (S) and his infallible household).

The top selected works of calligraphy and calligraphic-paintings will go on display in Tehran and several other cities, Majdi Majidi, director of “Muhammad, the Messenger of God” said in a press conference held in Tehran’s Barg Gallery on Saturday.

The festival is scheduled to open in May, 2017 to commemorate Be’that (the day in which the Prophet Muhammad (S) was appointed to his prophethood).

He also remarked that there are plans to establish a foundation of Prophet Muhammad (S) and the festival, which is due to be held biannually, will be part of the foundation’s programs.

“Interested applicants are invited to register before February 28, 2017 and the top selected works will be displayed in three different sections,” said secretary of the festival Mojtaba Musavi, also attending the conference.

“The first section will exhibit competing works, the second will be dedicated to works by masters of calligraphy and calligraphic-paintings and the third will showcase old and rare copies of inscriptions of salawat,” he added.

Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization Director Isa Alizadeh also noted that a large number of billboards across the capital, Tehran, will be dedicated to showcasing the top selected works.

The first edition of the festival was dedicated to the creation of a logotype representing Prophet Muhammad (S).
